Updated: Feb 27

Trying to get your website to rank higher on Google searches in 2024? Here's the full strategy guide we implement for our clients (click here if you are seeking a "Done For You Marketing" solution)!

How to Rank Higher on Google in 2024

1. Write Blog Content on Your Website

Creating blog content is the best way to bring high-intention organic traffic to your website!

PRO TIP: Include a lead capture form or Call-to-Action in every blog post. You want to capture this warm traffic whether it be via an email address or via Meta Pixel (which you can retarget them with via paid ads).

  • Find relevant, low KD (Keyword Difficulty), high search volume keywords via: https://ahrefs.com/keyword-generator

  • Long tail keywords are best, e.g. 3 or more words long. Such as our main target keyword for this blog post "How to Rank Higher on Google" which has a search volume of 450 searches per month. Notice our URL includes the keyword "/how-to-rank-higher-on-google" as well as in the Meta Description, Meta Title, H1, H2, and throughout the blog post content.

  • Write 1,000 to 2,000-word minimum-length blog posts. Some of our best-performing blog posts are comparison articles e.g. "YOUR PRODUCT vs COMPETITOR", review articles e.g. "TOP 10 XYZ PRODUCTS REVIEWED", and tutorial articles e.g. "How to Rank Higher on Google [COMPLETE GUIDE]". Set a goal of publishing 1 blog post minimum per week!

  • Add hyperlinks in your blog posts to other relevant pages/products on your website to boost them (this is called "Internal Linking" and is like an internal "backlink" / nod of confidence in the eyes of Google search).

  • Include a link to a high Domain Authority website (e.g. Wikipedia, NYT, etc.) You can check the Domain Authority at https://moz.com/domain-analysis

2. Get Links to Your Website

Build links to your blog posts and main homepage URL. We get the highest Domain Authority (DA) backlinks by using HARO (Help a Reporter Out). This is simply pitching yourself (and your blog post) as a source for reporters/journalists to use in their articles. We have backlinks on Forbes, Entrepreneur, and more giant media websites because of HARO! Sign up at: https://www.helpareporter.com/sources

3. Optimize Your Website's Technical SEO

Clean up your website SEO ("Technical SEO"). This includes adding target keywords to each page/post URL, Meta Description, Meta Title, H1, H2, and body content (~3 times total + slight variations of that main target keyword).

The Complete SEO Course for Beginners

Learn How to Rank #1 in Google Search Results

If you are new to the world of online marketing, then you have probably heard about SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. SEO is an important strategy that helps websites rank higher in search engine results pages, which ultimately leads to increased traffic and more conversions. In this blog post, we will be providing a complete SEO course for beginners, covering everything from the basics to advanced tactics.

Understanding the Basics of SEO

Before we dive into the nitty-gritty details of SEO, let's start with the basics. SEO refers to the process of optimizing your website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs). There are two main types of SEO: on-page SEO and off-page SEO. On-page SEO involves optimizing the content and structure of your website, while off-page SEO involves building backlinks and improving your website's authority.

Conducting Keyword Research

One of the most important steps in SEO is keyword research. This involves finding the keywords and phrases that people are searching for in relation to your business or industry. There are many tools available to help with keyword research, including Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, and Ahrefs. Once you have identified your target keywords, you can begin optimizing your website content around them.

Creating High-Quality Content

Content is king when it comes to SEO. Your website should have high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that targets your audience and incorporates your target keywords. Some tips for creating great content include:

  • Use headers and sub-headers to break up your content and make it easier to read

  • Incorporate multimedia elements like images, videos, and infographics

  • Make sure your content is original and not copied from other websites

Optimizing Your On-Page SEO

Once you have your content created, it's time to optimize your on-page SEO. This involves making sure your website is structured properly, your content is optimized for your target keywords, and your website is easy for search engines to crawl. Some tips for optimizing your on-page SEO include:

  • Using descriptive URLs that include your target keywords

  • Including meta tags and descriptions for each page on your website

  • Using header tags (H1, H2, H3, etc.) to structure your content

  • Optimizing your images with alt tags that include your target keywords

Building Backlinks

Off-page SEO is all about building backlinks to your website. Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your website, indicating that your website has valuable content. The more high-quality backlinks you have, the more authority your website will have in the eyes of search engines. Some tips for building backlinks include:

  • Creating high-quality content that other websites will want to link to

  • Reaching out to other website owners and bloggers in your industry and asking them to link to your website

  • Guest posting on other websites and including a link back to your website in your author bio

Monitoring Your Results

Once you have implemented these SEO tactics, it's important to monitor your results. This will help you identify areas where you can improve and track your progress over time. Some tools for monitoring your SEO results include Google Analytics, SEMrush, and Ahrefs.

In conclusion, SEO is a complex and ever-changing field, but by following these basic SEO principles, you can improve your website's visibility and attract more traffic to your site. Remember to focus on creating high-quality content, optimizing your website for your target keywords, building backlinks, and monitoring your results. With time and patience, you can see real results from your SEO efforts.
